Looking to learn more about our apprenticeship?

In cooperation with National Apprenticeship Week we are hosted a "virtual" Open House to educate the public about our two offered apprenticeship programs, electrical and telecommunications. This is a great forum to learn everything you've wanted to know about our apprenticeship programs and to be able to ask questions of our panelists.

Our contractors rely on individuals with the aptitude and desire to:
  • Being productive on day one.
  • Meet challenges and construction goals daily.
  • Excel in a variety of job-site assignments.
  • Demonstrate their knowledge, skills and abilities.

Let us answer a few questions for you.

We pride ourselves in delivering to our employers and end users the best electrical craftsman available. We have adapted to the economics of these modern times and find we can be competitive in all venues. We hope to see you soon, our doors are always open.

Why should I consider joining IBEW 164?

To be part of a highly-trained workforce that is proud of its skills, knowledge, and commitment to the electrical industry. IBEW Local 164 is committed to raising the standard of living for all electricians in the New Jersey area by the advancement of wages, benefits, and working conditions.

What is a Union?

A union is a group of workers who are united together to have a collective voice in their jobs and working conditions. The basic idea of a union is that by joining together with fellow employees to form a union, workers have a greater ability to improve conditions at the worksite.

What about Pay and Benefits?

The purpose of forming a union is to win improvements in wages and benefits, not to lose them. We start with what we have and go up. On average, unionized workers earn one third more than non-union workers in wages and benefits.
